Once upon a time, in a castle with golden spires and a garden of whispering flowers, lived Princess Lila. She was known for her gentle heart and her love of tending to the royal garden. One spring morning, while wandering through the rose bushes, she spotted something unusual: a tiny green pea peeking out from between the roots of an old oak tree.
"Hello there," she said, crouching down. "What are you doing so far from your home?" The pea wiggled slightly, as if it were trying to say something. Lila smiled and gently picked it up, placing it in the palm of her hand. It was no bigger than a marble, but it felt warm and full of life.
That evening, she brought the pea to her favorite garden bed and planted it with care. She watered it with rainwater from a silver pitcher and sang it a lullaby every night. The other gardeners laughed when they saw her talking to a pea, but Lila didn’t mind. She believed everything had a story to tell.
Days passed, and nothing seemed to happen. Then one morning, she gasped. A tiny green sprout had pushed through the soil, and it was growing faster than she had ever seen! By the end of the week, it had grown into a slender stalk with heart-shaped leaves. The pea had become a plant!
"You’re so brave," Lila whispered, brushing a leaf with her fingertips. The plant swayed as if it were smiling. One day, a worried gardener ran to her. "Your Highness, the castle well is poisoned! The water is making the flowers wilt and the animals sick. We don’t know what to do!"
Lila looked at her plant, now tall and strong. She had an idea. She gathered the leaves and placed them in a pot, then carried it to the well. With a deep breath, she dropped the leaves into the water. A moment later, the water began to shimmer with a soft green light. The well was clean again, and the garden bloomed with new life.
The king and queen were overjoyed. They gave Lila a golden medal, but she smiled and said, "The real treasure was the pea that taught me kindness and courage."
From that day on, the castle had a new tradition: every spring, the princess would plant a pea in the garden, just in case it had more magic to share. And the well remained clean, thanks to a little pea and a big heart.
