In the heart of the Whispering Woods, there was a market unlike any other. It was called the Number Fair, a place where the air smelled of cinnamon and the grass felt like velvet. Young Leo stood at the entrance, clutching his small satchel. Today was a very special day because Leo had been practicing his English numbers, and he was finally ready to use them to find his own treasures.

His first stop was a stall decorated with ivy and bright ribbons. It was filled with the shiniest fruit Leo had ever seen. A friendly squirrel wearing a tiny, checkered apron stood behind the counter, tidying a pile of pears. Leo pointed to a round, ruby-red apple that sat right at the top. "One, please!" he said with a confident smile. The squirrel chirped a happy melody and handed him the crisp, cool fruit. Leo took a big, juicy bite and grinned. Knowing how to say "one" was the start of a wonderful adventure.

Next, Leo followed a sweet, buttery scent that drifted through the trees. He found a small stone cottage with a chimney puffing out curls of white smoke. Inside, a baker was pulling trays of golden cookies from a large stone oven. These weren't ordinary cookies; they were shaped like twinkling stars and dusted with sparkling sugar. Leo looked at the tray and held up three fingers. "Three, please!" he requested. The baker smiled warmly and placed three glowing, star-shaped cookies into a small brown paper bag. Leo felt a surge of pride. By knowing the number "three," he had enough delicious treats to enjoy now and share with his friends later.
As he wandered further into the fair, he saw a giant cluster of balloons bobbing gracefully in the breeze. They were every color of the rainbow—crimson, sapphire, emerald, and gold. Leo wanted to see if he could get a whole handful to take home. He took a deep breath and counted the strings carefully. "One, two, three, four, five!" he said. The balloon seller, a tall man wearing a hat covered in tiny silver bells, laughed gently and tied five colorful strings to Leo’s wrist.
Leo walked home through the sun-drenched meadow, his tummy full of apple and his hands holding his stars and balloons. He realized that numbers were like magical keys. By learning them in English, he could choose exactly what he wanted from the world. As the stars began to peek out in the evening sky, Leo whispered his numbers one last time, excited for all the choices he would make tomorrow.
