Deep in the dark woods lived a mean witch in a crooked house. Inside, six friends were trapped in a magic cage. There was Barnaby the dog, Luna the cat, Pip the green bird, Thumper the rabbit, Shelldon the turtle, and Nibbles the tiny hamster.
The witch said, "I will make magic soup with you!" Then she went outside to find plants. The animals were scared.
"We are all so different," said Thumper. "How can we work together?"
"Our differences can help us!" said Luna. "Pip, you have wings. Fly up and look for the key."
Pip flew high. "The key is in a silver box on the top shelf!" he chirped.
"I am too big to reach it," said Barnaby. "But Nibbles is very small."
Luna let Nibbles climb on her back. Then Pip picked up Nibbles and flew him to the high shelf. Nibbles was so small that he fit inside the box. He pushed the key out.
The key fell into a crack in the floor. "I can get it!" said Shelldon the turtle. He used his strong legs to slide into the crack. His hard shell kept him safe. He pushed the key out with his nose.
Barnaby and Thumper used their strong legs to kick the cage door. Clang! The door opened.
The six friends ran to the window. Luna used her claws to open it. They all jumped out into the green grass. They were a perfect team because they were all different. They ran away into the woods, and the witch was left with an empty cage.
