"The Bully on the Playground. It was a normal school day. The bell rings. Children run onto the playground. Isaiah and Kemah sit together eating snacks. "Isaiah said to kemah," when we are finished with our snacks , we will go play on the swings! "Okay, They're laughing and talking. Kemah walks toward the playground.
Marcus steps in front of her. "Give me your snack."No, it's mine." Marcus reaches toward her snack. "If you don't give it to me, I'm gonna tell everyone you're scaredy-cat." "That's not fair said kemah, Marcus. You can't force me to give you my snack." Then Marcus says, "Then everyone will know you're a coward ." Kemah looks uncomfortable. Isaiah notices from nearby. Isaiah walks over, but he doesn't push Marcus or start a fight. "Marcus, that's not okay. Kemah said no."Mind your business said Marcus to Isaiah this is my business that's my sister." Isaiah stays calm. "We're not fighting you. We're gonna get a teacher." Isaiah and Kemah move away together.
They find their teacher. "Miss! Miss! Marcus keeps trying to take my snack and threatening me." Ms. Valerie listens carefully . "I'm glad you told me. You did the right thing. Nobody should make you feel unsafe anywhere.the important safety lesson is that later, the teacher speaks about kindness, respect, and safety and explains that bullying is not something they have to handle alone. If someone threatens you or tries to take something that belongs to you, move away if you can safely do so and tell a trusted adult. Isaiah and Kemah understand, and Marcus learns his behavior is wrong. Ms. Valerie speaks with Marcus, he apologizes to Kemah, and the children remember four safety steps: Stop.
Think. Get safe. Tell someone. Learning to Make Safe Choices."Isaiah and Kemah talk with their classmates. "Maryann said I thought telling a teacher meant I was tattling."No said Isaiah, if someone is being hurt, threatened, or bullied, getting help is safe."And we don't have to fight. Move away from danger when you can. 2. Kemah say Stay with people you trust. 3. Kemah continues Tell a teacher, parent, guardian, or another trusted adult. 4. If one adult doesn't listen, tell another trusted adult. 5.Isaiah continues If you see someone being bullied, don't join in. Help them get to safety. Final message. "Remember, being brave isn't about being the strongest."It's about knowing what to do when something isn't right." "Speak up. Stay safe. Help each other!" "Exactly. Being brave means making a safe choice." Safety rules for the end. "STOP. THINK. GET SAFE. TELL SOMEONE."
