In the sun-drenched neighborhood of Green Valley, ten-year-old Zainab and her younger brother Ali were known for their curiosity. Their house was filled with the scent of jasmine and the sound of laughter. One Tuesday afternoon, while playing in their garden, they noticed their neighbor, Mr. Hassan, sitting alone on his porch. Usually, Mr. Hassan would wave and offer them dried figs, but today his shoulders were slumped, and his garden looked neglected.
Zainab felt a tug at her heart. She remembered a lesson they had learned at the community center. She turned to Ali and said, 'Do you remember what our teacher told us about the Prophet’s teachings?'
Ali nodded eagerly. 'You mean the one about our neighbors?'
Zainab smiled and recited the words they had memorized:
**Hadith: Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him and his family) said: “The most beloved of deeds to Allah is bringing joy to a believer.”**

'Mr. Hassan doesn't look very joyful,' Ali whispered. 'Maybe we can do something.'
They spent the rest of the afternoon brainstorming. They didn't have much money, but they had plenty of energy and a big wicker basket. They decided to create a 'Joy Basket.' First, they went to their own kitchen. With their mother's help, they baked a tray of honey-glazed muffins that filled the house with a warm, sweet aroma. Zainab carefully wrapped them in a linen cloth.
Next, they went to the park and picked a bouquet of bright yellow wildflowers. Ali added a hand-drawn picture of a sun shining over a garden. Finally, they gathered some fresh mint from their own herb patch, knowing Mr. Hassan loved mint tea. They arranged everything neatly in the basket, covering it with a bright green ribbon.
As the sun began to set, painting the sky in shades of orange and purple, the two children tiptoed over to Mr. Hassan’s gate. They quietly left the basket on his small wooden table and rang the bell before scurrying back to hide behind a large oak tree in their own yard.
They watched as Mr. Hassan slowly opened his door. He looked down, surprised to see the colorful basket. As he lifted the cloth and saw the warm muffins and the flowers, a wide, genuine smile spread across his face. He picked up Ali’s drawing and held it close to his heart. He looked around the neighborhood, his eyes sparkling with a trace of happy tears. He didn't know who had left it, but his loneliness seemed to melt away instantly.

Seeing his happiness, Zainab and Ali felt a warmth in their own chests that was better than any toy or candy. They realized that by bringing joy to Mr. Hassan, they had brought a great deal of joy to themselves as well.
That evening, as they sat with their parents for dinner, Zainab wrote down their experience in her journal. She wanted to remember how a small act of kindness could change someone’s entire day. The neighborhood of Green Valley felt a little brighter that night, proving that the wisdom of the Prophet (pbuh) was a light that could guide even the youngest hearts.

**Learning from the Hadith**
We learn that making someone else happy is one of the best ways to worship Allah. Small acts of kindness, like sharing food or a smile, have the power to change hearts and build a loving community.
