The radio sputtered static, then a womans voice, thin and reedy. "This is… this is an emergency broadcast. Sector 7… quarantine… repeat… quarantine strictly enforced. Avoid… avoid contact…" The signal died with a final hiss. That was the last human voice Elias had heard in three days.

Dia Cero, Day Zero. The day the world ended, not with a bang, but with a cough. A cough that turned into a fever, then… something else. Elias had barricaded himself in his apartment, stocked with enough canned goods and bottled water to last him weeks. Weeks that stretched into a silent, agonizing eternity.

The city outside, once a cacophony of sirens and shouting, was now eerily silent. The only sound was the wind whistling through shattered windows, carrying with it the scent of decay.
